Rhasidat Adeleke is an Irish sprinter who was born on August 29, 2002, in Dublin, Ireland. She was the first Irish woman to break the 50-second barrier in the 400 metres event. Adeleke was born to parents Ade, and Prince Adeleke, who are both Yoruba and originally from Oyo State, western Nigeria. Her mother Ade worked for the state postal company An Post. Adeleke currently holds seven individual Irish national records.

Career and achievements
Rhasidat Adeleke first gained prominence after winning a junior sprint double at the Irish Schools championships in 2017. She was just 14-years-old at that time and just a month later, she won a silver medal in the 200 metres at the European Youth Olympic Festival. The following year, she won a gold at the European Under-18 Championships, and then a silver at the World U20 Championships.
She then claimed the 100 m / 200 m sprint double in 2019 at the European Youth Olympic Festival. Rhasidat Adeleke was the also first Irish woman to break the 50-second barrier in the 400 metres. The Irish sprinter qualified for the Paris Olympics in July 2023 after finishing second with a time of 22.36 seconds at the 200m in the World Continental Tour Gold in Hungary.
Earlier this year, Rhasidat Adeleke went on a roll, winning several medals including the World Athletics Relays, where he won a Bronze at the 2024 Nassau in the 4×400 m mixed event. He then won a gold medal in the 4×400 m mixed event at the 2024 European Championships, followed by two more silver medals in the 4×400 m relay and 400 m.
