Irene Dkhar from Meghalaya was crowned Miss Northeast during a glittering grand finale held at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima on Thursday night.

Irene’s final answer that made her close to the crown was, Irene was advocating the need to address mental health issues among the youth as being a social problem.
The new Miss Northeast has received a trophy, gift baskets, and got cash reward of INR 1.5 lakh. Irene Dkhar was followed by runner-ups namely Assam’s Eshanee Hatimuria and Arunachal Pradesh’s Dyna Jomo in Miss Northeast 2022. Hatimuria received a cash reward of INR 1 lakh while another contestant Jomo received INR 70,000.

The judges also chose Jomo as Miss Multimedia, Hatimuria as the Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent and Dkhar as Miss Perfect Ten of all.
The Queen of Hearts was Manasha Devi Sapam hailing from Manipur while Miss Beautiful Skin was Lika Chophy hailing from Nagaland. This was for the very first time that the Northeast Beauty Pageant Organization had hosted a Miss Northeast contest. The pageant was held by the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) by collaboration with the Nagaland government.
The panelists included Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo and Nise Meruno of Yamaha as well as designer Bambi Kevichüsa. The next round for this pageant will be hosted by Sikkim.
As per media reports, last year during the event held at ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati on the 31st of October, Awiesie Kajiri Pochury and Rosalen were crowned as the Mr and Miss Northeast in 2021 presenting Nagaland.
Along with the winning titles Nagaland also took home a total of 5 titles and eight subtitles from the fourth edition of Mr. and Miss Northeast. As per to Samuel Achy Phom who is President of Nagaland Mega Entertainment, the winners were selected to represent India and receive a straight entry into the International Beauty Pageant 2022. Also the runners ups and the winner will get numerous paid shoots.
