A fresh FIR lodged against former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt and DGP RB Sreekumar states their involvement in giving extensive quotes which were based on the SC verdict in 2002. According to the FIR Bhatt’s involvement was noticed back in 2002 as well with Bhatt currently in jail.
Disgraced and jailed IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt set up an e-mail group where 'strategies' to falsify 2002 information and implicate the then Gujarat CM were discussed. Group included Congress leaders, bogus activists and certain TV anchors. In one mail he asked for a Blackberry.

Sanjiv Bhatt’s Family And Education
Sanjiv Bhatt was born in 1963 on 21st December in Bombay and is aged 58 years. Both his parents were Kashmiri Pandits but their names are not known. He completed Mtech from IIT Bombay in year 1985. Bhatt married Shweta after dating her and the couple together has 2 kids.
Aakashi Bhatt, a researcher, surgeon in the UK is the daughter of jailed disgraced police officer Sanjiv Bhatt while his son is named Shantanu.
Sanjiv Bhatt became a part of the Indian police service in 1988 with an allotment in the Gujarat cadre. Later on in 1990 in Jamnagar, he detained almost 150 people for controlling riots. A detainee named Prabhudas Vaishnani died of kidney failure a few days after getting detained. The brother of this detainee filed a complaint against Sanjiv as according to him Bhatt was involved in his death.
Another detainee named Vijaysinh Bhatti stated that he was beaten brutally by Bhatt when he was in police custody. In year 1996, Bhatt got accused of falsely framing the involvement of a lawyer from Rajasthan in a narcotics case. Many lawyers accused him of taking favors from the Gujarat government to get appointed at positions where he can use public money for his benefit.
In 2003, Sanjiv Bhatt was appointed as the superintendent of Sabarmati Jail but after 2 months he was transferred as he was being too friendly with all the prisoners. After is transfer, more than 4000 prisoners went on hunger strike to reverse the decision of his transfer. In 2011 on 28th August, the Gujarat government suspended him because of his unauthorized absence from duty.
