IPS officer Sanjay Beniwal is from the 1989 batch and has been appointed as the new Director General of Tihar Jail which is based in Delhi.
According to media reports, official order was issued on Friday, and the 1989 batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory officer has got transferred from the Tihar Jail. He was asked to report to PHQ for further orders.
Beniwal was promoted to the DGP Grade in the AGMUT cadre. HE joined the Chandigarh Police on deputation of 2 years in June of 2018 where his tenure ended in June of 2020. His family details are not known.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s Allegations
Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar is facing numerous cases of corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Money Laundering Act. This all had been written to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena alleging that he got forced to pay Rs 10 crore “protection money” to Aam Aadmi Party minister Satyender Jain. Sukesh Chandrashekhar claimed that he was well-known as the AAP leader in 2015.
Sukesh has alleged that he has been receiving threats and was under pressure by Minister Satyendar Jain and Sandeep Goel and also by the Director General of Prison, Delhi on corruption and extortion.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar claimed in his letter that he was visited by Jain in the Tihar jail where Sukesh was lodged after his arrest in 2017 in the ‘two leaf symbol corruption case’.
Jain asked him if he had disclosed things to the probe agency, the conman stated.
“In 2019 again Satyendar Jain visited me and his secretary named Sushil in jail and asked me to pay INR 2 crore every month as protection money,” he reported. He also mentioned other amounts he was asked to pay.
