55-year-old Robin Hibu was born on July 1, 1968. Hibu was raised in the Arunachal Pradeshi Ziro Valley in a tiny hamlet called “Hong.” He is married to Gampi Padu.

After attending the Kasturba Gandhi Seva Ashram in Hong, he completed his education at JN College in Pasighat. Hibu graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru University with a master’s degree in sociology.

Robin Hibu career

In 1993, Robin Hibu became an IPS officer. He is the first IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh to be promoted to DGP rank and is a 1993 AGMUT cadre officer.

Hibu was the Joint Commissioner of Police in New Delhi as well.Throughout his time in New Delhi, Hibu consistently voiced his worries regarding the safety of women and against prejudice directed towards Delhi’s North-East Indian population. Hibu helps those in need in Northeast India through the non-governmental organisation “Helping Hands.” During the COVID-19, the NGO additionally supplied oxygen to Delhi. Mary Kom, a well-known Indian boxer and Rajya Sabha member, backed Hibu’s NGO Helping Hands and sent money to Delhi’s Northeastern COVID-19 sufferers.

Hibu has accomplished more than just becoming a rank. Having been awarded the President of India Police Medal for his exceptional and meritorious services, he is a decorated officer.

The Indian government bestowed upon him the Ati-Utkrisht Seva Padak in 2021. In addition, his home state of Arunachal Pradesh awarded him two gold medals for his work during his previous tenure there.
