Earlier, reports surfaced online suggesting that an IIT student has accused an Assistant Commissioner of Police of r*pe.

As aforesaid, a student from the IIT has accused a police officials of r*pe. After the complaint was filed on Thursday, various female officers of DCP and ACP rank conducted an investigation.
As per media reports, the accused ACP was interrogated in a closed room for approximately two hours, during which the allegations of r*pe were found to be credible. Subsequently, the Police Commissioner ordered an FIR to be registered, and the ACP was immediately removed from his post.
Identity of the Accused ACP
The accused ACP identified as Mohsin Khan, was associated with the Cyber Crime Cell in Kanpur and is widely known in the field for his work. In addition to working as an ACP, he is also pursuing a PhD degree in Cyber Crime and Criminology at IIT Kanpur and is an electrical engineer.
Age 39 Mohsin Khan who is the Kanpur Police cyber crime ACP and is from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh joined the UP Police Service on 1 July 2015 and has been posted in Kanpur since 12 December 2023 where he looks after cases related to cyber crime. Earlier, Mohsin Khan had been posted in Agra and Aligarh and stayed there for about three years each.

ACP Mohsin Khan, a 2013 batch PPS officer, was stationed at the Collectorate Police Station and Cyber Crime Cell. His association with the victim began at IIT Kanpur, where both were pursuing their studies in Cyber Crime.
During his studies, he developed a close relationship with a fellow research scholar, who alleged that ACP Mohsin Khan lured her into a romantic relationship and later s*xually exploited her on the false pretense of marriage.

The student, in her fourth year of PhD, alleged that Mohsin Khan concealed his marital status and about having a child and made false promises of marriage.
When confronted about his marriage, Mohsin Khan allegedly promised to divorce his wife and marry the victim, but later reneged on his commitment. The name of the student and Mohsin’s wife isn’t known.
Upon learning the truth, their relationship soured, leading her to file a complaint with the Acting Police Commissioner.
The complaint prompted a detailed inquiry by female officers, which confirmed the accusations. Following the findings, Police Commissioner Akhil Kumar ordered the removal of ACP Mohsin Khan from his post. The ACP has been attached to the police headquarters in Lucknow.
The case has been filed under Section 69 of the Indian Penal Code and will be investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by ACP Traffic Archana Singh.
