Notably, Manoj Sharma cracked the UPSC exam in his fourth attempt and got qn AIR of 121, eventually becoming an IPS from the Maharashtra cadre in 2005.

Manoj Sharma is an Indian IPS officer who hails from the Morena district in Madhya Pradesh. Ever since his childhood, Manoj Sharma wanted to become an IAS officer. He was however, born into a very poor family and even struggled with his studies. During his childhood, he passed Classes 9 and 10 in the third division. He eventually failed in class 12. Notably, Manoj failed in all subjects during his 12th standard, except in Hindi. Despite these setbacks, despite facing failure in Class 12, Manoj did not lose faith and kept his dream of becoming an IAS officer alive.

In his book, Manoj Sharma details his struggles with becoming an IPS officer. According to Manoj, he drove a tempo to earn his living while studying. He belonged to a very poor family and lived in a house that did not even have a roof. Manoj shared how he often had to sleep with beggars and even once worked as a library peon in Delhi. During his time as a library peon, he read about many great people, including Gorky, Abraham Lincoln, Muktbodh, and much more.
