The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Intel, Davidson Devasirvatham IPS has been transferred to ADGP Headquarters, Chennai, from the Intelligence Department.
KA Senthil Velan, IPS, will replace him as the state police intelligence chief and hold the additional charge of ADGP Intelligence.
According to reports, Devasirvatham was allegedly involved in the fake passport scam racket. The data shows that more than 200 passports were issued from Madurai to ineligible people. The racket took place while Devasirvatham was the city’s Police commissioner.
The current whereabouts of these individuals, who obtained their passports through illegal means, are unknown and difficult to track down. The documents they provided were forged, not the actual passports.
Davidson Was Directly Involved With Christian Missionaries
Davidson Devasirvatham, according to BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai, has deep ties with Christian Missionary organisations and is working with the aim of propagating a certain religion in the southern region of the state.
Centre has not ordered TN Govt to act against Davidson Devasirvatham, IPS, this is an usual procedure of forwarding the complaint to respective State Govt where the officer is currently working.
Because the officer is working in the State Cadre, TN Govt is the competent… https://t.co/WschDVlYt1— Arvind Gunasekar (@arvindgunasekar) June 28, 2023
Annamalai stated that 74% of the false passports issued were to Christian applicants in the fake passport fraud.
His wife, who ran a passport agency, allegedly closed down after the situation became public. When Davidson Devasirvatham was the Madurai Police Commissioner, Annamalai accused him of deleting evidence.
The Coimbatore car blast terror attack near the Kottai Easwaran temple occurred during Davidson Devasirvatham’s tenure as state police intelligence officer. In the blast, Jamesha Mubin was killed. During his tenure, there were riots and arson in Kallakurichi in the aftermath of a schoolgirl’s death.
The Seriousness of the Fake Passport Scam
The entire Indian security apparatus is closely monitoring this case, which they believe is a security nightmare.
One example demonstrates the gravity of this deception. R&AW, India’s External Intelligence Agency, suspects that a Sri Lankan MP from Vanni, Kulasingham Dhileepan, is a beneficiary of the fake passport scam and fled India using a bogus passport issued in Madurai, and an investigation is underway.
How many foreign spies gained Indian passports is unknown, and with the Chinese threat from Sri Lanka still present, this angle too poses a risk, and multiple Sri Lankan citizens were issued fake passports.
