Kirk James Ferentz is an American football coach who was born on August 1, 1955 in Royal Oak, Michigan, U.S.

A look at Kirk Ferentz’s career

From 1974 to 1976, Ferentz attended the University of Connecticut to play college football as a linebacker. He has been the FBS coach with the longest tenure with just one programme since 2017. At Iowa, the 68-year-old leads all-time in victories.

Ferentz led the University of Maine football team as its head coach from 1990 to 1992. He was also an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL) with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.

His early coaching career career included Worcester Academy before he spent 1980 season as a graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh. After joining Hayden Fry’s staff at the University of Iowa, Ferentz coached the offensive line for the Hawkeyes from 1981 to 1989.

On September 1, 2018, he defeated Northern Illinois to become the all-time leader in school history with 144 victories. He has guided Iowa to 19 bowl appearances, more than any other Iowa coach.
