Public outrage over a Russian tourist’s disturbing encounter at Delhi’s India Gate by Instagram influencer Sachin Raj Kumar viral has brought attention to the problem of harassment experienced by tourists visiting well-known Indian locations
A video from the nation’s capital that shows a man named Sachin Raj relentlessly pursuing and harassing a foreign woman while attempting to coerce her into dancing in spite of her discomfort is going popular on social media.

The video, which was posted to Instagram on September 19, shows Sachin Raj, a guy, harassing the foreign visitor as he records a dance reel. He had to turn off comments on his post because of the outpouring of criticism that followed his desperate attempt to get attention.
As the visitor is seen in the video taking pictures at India Gate, Sachin from Bihar abruptly enters her personal space and starts dancing provocatively around her. Raj continues to disregard her limits despite her obvious discomfort until the woman’s partner intervenes to end the harassment.
Surprisingly, nobody steps forward to help the distraught woman even though bystanders are watching the event. Despite her obvious discomfort, Raj keeps shooting and eventually uploads the footage to the internet.
Interestingly, Sachin Raj has 68,000 Facebook followers and 1.6 lakh Instagram followers, suggesting that many social media users “love” his stuff. He was seen pestering many tourist groups in these videos from the India Gate scandal.
Sachin Kumar has created an ID on Facebook and Instagram in the name of Sachin Raj Viral and in the viral video Sachin goes to the female Russian tourists and starts dancing on Bhojpuri songs, the lyrics of which are ‘I want Russians… I will get Russian ones…’ He tries to include these tourists with him, but the tourists feel uncomfortable and move away.
Anger has swept through social networking site X in response to the widely shared videos of Sachin abusing travellers. His actions have angered and shamed a number of internet users. In order to demand swift action against Sachin and more stringent enforcement of rules at tourist destinations, internet users tagged the Delhi Police and the Tourism Ministry.

Netizens’ response shows their increasing annoyance with the practice of making viral “reels” at the expense of other people’s comfort and privacy, particularly when tourists are singled out.
Maxtern was the first one to respond to the incident. Influencer Maxtern wrote, โDear Delhi Police this guy Sachin Raj is harassing foreign girls just to go viral and is degrading the name of India. Please take immediate action.โ
