India’s lone heavyweight wrestler Nisha Dahiya lost out in the quarter-finals round of the women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg to South Korea’s Pak Sol Gum by 8-10. Notably, Dahiya dominated the early parts of the game leading 8-1 with just over 90 seconds remaining. However, she suddenly suffered a serious injury to her right hand, which affected her performance and left her with no strength in her right hand.
As a result, Pak scored nine straight points and secured her way to victory. The dramatic turnaround took place just after a medical break, where viewers saw that Nisha was visibly distraught and crying. Nisha could still have a chance to compete in the repechage round if Pak reaches the final. However, following her injury, her ability to participate remains uncertain.

She competes in the women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg and is a part of the Indian contingent at the ongoing 2024 Summer Olympics at Paris. Nisha is the fifth Indian wrestler to make to Paris and the lone heavyweight wrestler in this outing.
