Hemant passed away at around 7:40 pm on June 23, at a local hospital in Oklahoma after succumbing to his injuries from an assault. According to reports, Mistry fell unconscious after a stranger punched him in the motel parking lot near I-40 and Meridian Avenue around 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. After receiving reports about the incident, police officials quickly arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital. However, he eventually succumbed to his injuries the next day.

Hemant Mistry was an Indian American motel manager who ran a motel in Oklahoma, USA. He recently passed away after falling victim to an attack by a stranger just outside in the motel parking lot. Based on his social media pictures, Hemant lives with his family in Oklahoma, which includes his wife, a son and a daughter. Hemant was a family man and a devout follower of Hinduism.
59 year old Hemant Mistry from Navsar, Gujarat, a businessman from Navsari’s Bilimora owned a motel in Oklahoma, US. Mistry asked 41-year-old Richard Lewis, a stranger, to leave the property and move his stuff from his motel’s parking lot and while doing so, Lewis punched Mistry, knocking him unconscious. Mistry was hospitalised and died a day later at 7.40 pm.
Two decades ago, the Mistry family settled in Oklohoma and Mistry owned over 120 motels in the city.
After the stranger punched Mistry, he suffered a brain haemorrhage and the doctors declared him brain-dead a day later.
Police arrest the assailant
The Oklahoma City police have arrested the assailant, identified as 41-year-old Richard Lewis. After assaulting the victim Hemant Mistry, Lewis fled from the scene but police officials later found him at a hotel located in the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue and arrested him. Police have held the assailant on a $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail with charges of an aggravated assault and battery. The Oklahoma City police are still unsure about the reason behind why the suspect was asked to leave the property.
Hemant Mistry has an Instagram account with the handle @ hemantsmistry, where he has about 262 followers. The 59-year-old regularly posts pictures of himself and his family on the page.
