Krishan Bahadur Pathak is an Indian field hockey player who was born on April 24, 1997 in Kapurthala, Punjab. He currently plays as a goalkeeper for the Indian national hockey team that recently won a bronze at the Paris 2024 Games. Pathak is also a member of the Indian Oil Corporation club.
Pathak is of Nepalese descent and his parents migrated from a village in Nepal to Punjab back in 1990. He was initially not interested in the sport and joined the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar at age 12 at his father’s behest. This was also around the time when Pathak’s mother passed away. Sadly, Pathak’s father Tek Bahadur Pathak, who was a crane operator, also passed away from a heart attack in 2016.

Career, stats, and achievements
Pathak first gained prominence as part of the Indian junior team that won the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup. He then featured in the India A team for the 2017 Men’s Australian Hockey League. The following year, he eventually made his India senior team debut in January 2018 during their four-team invitational tournament in New Zealand.
That same year, he also featured in the squad for the 2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as India’s first-choice goalkeeper. Following which he played as a reserve goalkeeper in the 2018 Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy. India managed to win a silver during that year, followed by a bronze at the 2018 Asian Games. Krishan Bahadur Pathak made his Olympic debut as the reserve goalkeeper at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo where India won bronze. He was also a part of the Indian team that won a gold in 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Throughout his career, he has played a total of 125 matches, out of which he has won 86, and drawn 8.
