Indian cricketer, all-rounder Tanuja Kanwar presently plays for the Indian cricket team, Gujarat Giants and Railways. She bowls slow left arm orthodox.

On Wednesday at Rajkot, the Indian women’s cricket team achieved their first-ever 400-plus total in the 50-over format, led by Smriti Mandhana, who struck the fastest ODI hundred by an Indian female cricketer. In the third and final ODI, India women defeated Ireland women with a score of 435/5, led by Mandhana’s 135 and Pratika Rawal’s 154.

It’s interesting to note that this was India’s highest total ever, both for men and women. Indian men set the previous record in 2011 when they defeated the West Indies in Indore with a score of 418/5 and the greatest ODI total was surpassed by this Indian women’s team.

Tanuja Kanwar claimed two wickets for India, while Deepti Sharma claimed three. Minnu Mali, Titas Sadhu, and Sayali Satghare each took one wicket as India eased to a massive win on the back of their record breaking batting effort.

26-year-old Tanuja P Kanwar was born on January 28, 1998 in Shimla. She is 5ft 5in tall and 55 kg in weight. Tanuja earned her bachelor’s degree from Hindu College in Amritsar. She has two siblings, a brother named Mohit Thakur but the name of her sister is not known.

She wears the number 31 jersey for India and bowls slow left arm orthodox and is also a left hand batter.

Tanuja Kanwar career

Tanuja Kanwar was signed to play for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League auction in February 2023 for ₹50 lakh after registering for a base price of Rs.10 lakhs. On March 4, 2023, she faced the Mumbai Indians in her debut WPL game. During her eight WPL 2023 games, she took five wickets at an economy rate of 8.85. In the 2024 WPL, she claimed 10 wickets in eight games at an economy rate of 7.13.

She replaced Shreyanka Patil in the Indian squad for the 2024 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup on July 21, 2024. On July 21, 2024, Kanwar made her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against the United Arab Emirates in the same competition. On December 27, 2024, she played her first One Day International (ODI) match against the West Indies.
