With a 215-run stand for the fourth wicket between Dhas (116) and Uday Saharan (100), India defeated Nepal by 132 runs to secure their spot in the U-19 World Cup semifinals. Dhas, who batted at number five, faced 101 balls and scored 116 runs after hammering 11 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Who is Sachin Dhas?

Sachin Dhas is a U-19 cricket team player who plays as a batsman who hails from Beed district in Maharashtra. The 19-year-old who was born on February 3, 2005, also played for Kolhapur Tuskers.

His father, Sanjay Dhas, not only named him after Sachin Tendulkar but is also associated with cricket and played for Kolhapur Tuskers. Dhas’ mother Surekha Dhas was against him playing cricket. He has a sister named Pratiksha Dhas as well.

Dhas, who wears the number 10 jersey, a famous number donned by legendary Sachin Tendulkar during his playing days, was named after him by his father Sanjay Dhas who is a huge cricket fan.

Having represented Maharashtra at the state level, Sachin Dhas started his cricket career at the age of fourteen. He was chosen for the Maharashtra Cricket Association due to his continuous efforts, and he is now guaranteed a place in the U19 World Cup.

He had never played in a tournament inning including more than 20 balls before Friday. He scored 20 (16b), 21 not out (9b), 26 not out (20b), and 15 (11b) in the last four games. Before participating in the U19 World Cup 2024, he had only amassed 76 runs in seven Youth ODI matches, over four innings, as a middle-order hitter.

After making his debut in Youth ODIs in the ACC U19 Asia Cup in December 2023, Sachin Dhas was spotted competing in a Tri-Nation tournament in South Africa from December 2023 to January 2024. In his maiden innings, he smashed a fifty (58) against Pakistan.

Dhas played for Kolhapur Tuskers in the Maharashtra Premier League in 2023, showcasing his cricket talent early on. In the U19 World Cup, Dhas has become well-known despite having a mediocre debut in the tournament’s opening matches.
