The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has named Preesha Chakraborty on the “world’s brightest” students list. The organization prepared the list based on the results of above-grade-level tests of over 16,000 students from across 90 countries.

Preesha’s inclusion in this elite list resulted from the evaluation of above-grade-level tests taken by over 16,000 students from more than 90 countries worldwide and her outstanding performance on assessments such as the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), ACT (American College Testing), School and College Ability Test, or similar exams during the CTY Talent Search earned her this distinction.

Preesha Chakraborty is a 9-year-old student at Warm Spring Elementary School, located in Fremont, California. She recently got featured on the “world’s brightest” student list. According to her parents, Preesha has always possessed a passion for learning from a very young age.

Preesha’s parents are of Indian descent and she is an Indian American.

Moreover, she has consistently displayed exceptional academic abilities throughout her early years. Back in the summer of 2023, Preesha took the US-based Johns Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth (JH-CTY) test. She took the test as a Grade 3 student. When she is not studying, Preesha reportedly loves to travel and hike, as well as take part in mixed martial arts.

Preesha Chakraborty honours and achievements

Preesha has so far received several honours and achievements for her exceptional intellect. While undergoing the CTY Talent Search, she underwent various assessments like the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), ACT (American College Testing), and School and College Ability Test. Unsurprisingly, she aced all these tests, receiving recognition for her exceptional performances and intellectual ability.

According to the official press release, Preesha Chakraborty aced the test’s verbal and quantitative sections. In fact, she did so well that she was on par with the 99th percentile of advanced Grade 5 performances. She also managed to bag the Grand Honors, qualifying her for over 250 of Johns Hopkins CTY’s online and on-campus programs. The programs are meant for advanced students from grades 2–12 in subjects like mathematics, computer programming, chemistry, physics, reading, and writing.

Aside from these, Preesha Chakraborty also became a lifetime member of the universally renowned Mensa Foundation. The Mensa Foundation is the world’s oldest high-IQ society. Notably, Preesha became a member of society at just six years old. This membership is only open to people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized and supervised IQ test. Remarkably, Preesha secured 99 percentiles in the national-level NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test).
