Born in Kerala’s Kizhakkambalam, Sreejesh grew up in a farming family and started his education at St Antony’s Lower Primary School. Although, he initially pursued athletics, he switched to hockey and at the GV Raja Sports School in Thiruvananthapuram, Sreejesh specialized in goalkeeping. Sreejesh later earned a History degree from Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy.
Sreejesh is married to Aneeshya, a former long jumper and Ayurveda doctor. They have two children, Anusree and Sreeansh. He serves as Joint Director (Chief Sports Organizer) for the Department of General and Higher Education under the Government of Kerala and is an active member of the Rotary Club.

In 2004, Sreejesh made his debut with the Junior national team and in 2006, he made his senior debut. Thanks to his consistent performances, he was named Best Goalkeeper in 2008 Junior Asia Cup and became a regular member in 2011. Sreejesh made his mark internationally with appearances at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 World Cup.
In 2014, he played a crucial role towards India’s Asian Games gold medal win. Under him, Indian men’s hockey team progressed into quarterfinals during 2016 Rio Olympics. Sreejesh played a key role during Tokyo 2021 Olympics, as he helped to secure India’s first Olympic medal in 41 years for hockey that was bronze against Germany.
