Victim pleads UP CM Yogi Adityanath for help

Following the inability of the police to help her in the case, the victim, who is a resident of Varanasi, uploaded a video message, where she pleaded with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for help.

In the video, the victim reveals how she first approached the police with a complaint against her husband, Imran Khan and his family. However, the police were reluctant to register the complaint because of his ties to Mohsin Khan. Eventually the Prayagraj police agreed to register the case after much deliberation. Police registered a case against the accused Imran Khan on February 23, 2023.

Despite filing a case, the officers did not invoke any of the stringent sections under the SC/ST Act against Imran. The victim also alleged that the police removed Mohsin Khan and his fatherโ€™s names from the FIR since Mohsin is a famous and influential person.

Imran Khanโ€™s master plan

While issuing her complaint, the victim narrated her ordeal revealing how she first met Imran Khan in 2016 in Moradabad. She was in Moradabad for her police-training while Imran Khan, was also in the police. Imran reportedly adopted Buddhism and married the victim under the Special Marriage Act in 2018.

However, this all turned to be ruse, and Imran had trapped her in the marriage. Over time, Imran started pressuring the victim to convert to Islam and even forcefully changed her name to Zaira Banu.

She stated:

Imran had converted to Buddhism just to trap me and the entire family of the accused is involved in this conspiracy. Even after converting to Buddhism, he continued to go to mosques to offer namaz. He also took me to mosques in Ajmer and Barabanki. In 2019, I went to Imranโ€™s house for an event where his brother Mohsin Khan raped me at night.โ€

The victim also revealed that she has a three-year-old child, whom Imran forcefully tried to circumcise. However, she fervently opposed it and avoided it from happening. The woman also added that Imran even lied to her about his first marriage. Imran had fooled her by sending her an affidavit stating that he had already divorced his first wife but he still continued to live with her despite the claims of divorce. She stated:

I have given all the evidence related to this case to the investigator. Even after this, no one in the police station is ready to listen to me. I am left with no option but to end my life.โ€

The victim admitted that she had even tried committing suicide on the railway track, but a friend had saved her.

Police assure full support

Following the events, ACP Shivkuti Rajesh Yadav stated that the incident is a case of dispute between the couple. He clarified that since Imran Khan was previously married, the case involves many technical flaws. He stated that the police can go about on the next course of action only when investigations conclude.

Meanwhile, DCP Deepak Bhukar, has also looked into the matter assured the victim with full support. He told the victim to present her case before the police while assuring her that police would take into account her testimony while conducting the probe.
