Ihsanullah working his magic
Rizwan summoned Ihsanullah in the sixth over with the Gladiators at 37-2 and with Jason Roy and Sarfaraz batting. Ihsanullah delivered his first ball quite fast, and Sarfaraz pushed it to mid-on. His second ball meanwhile was just happened to be slightly short outside off, and missed Sarfaraz’s attempted wild slog.
Ihsanullah’s third ball also went off-stump, but pitched up slightly more than the previous ball. Just as Sarfaraz attempted another slog, the ball was too quick at 150 kph. As such, the ball took the inside edge and ricocheted onto the stumps to dismiss Sarfaraz who walked back for a seven-ball two.
New man Umar Akmal, hurried for pace off Ihsanullah’s next ball. Akmal took a wild swipe, but missed, and finally ended up getting off the mark off the last ball.
The 20-year-old fast bowler continued wreaking havoc as he followed up by having Roy caught at mid-off. Ihsanullah then trapped Iftikhar Ahmed leg-before with his next ball. The youngster was on a roll as he caught Akmal from behind and bowled out Naseem Shah. The ball against Shah was perhaps the best of the lot as it was full, fast and homed in on off-stump.
All those wonderful performances took his figures to 5-3 and he ended with figures of 4-1-12-5. Multan Sultans bowled out Quetta Gladiators for 110.
Ihsanullah a bright prospect
Ihsanullah is currently only 20-years-old and made his debut for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Pakistan Cup this season. He finished the competition only behind Usama Mir with 25 wickets from 11 fifty-over matches at 19.96. Moreover, he also had 22 wickets at 28.22 in the first-class season.
The Multan Sultans however, picked him up way before he made those amazing performances. Ihsanullah also featured for the team in the last edition of the PSL. However, he bowled only 20 balls across two matches in the last edition. This season Ihsanullah also managed to pick up Lahore Qalandars’ Kamran Ghulam and Hussain Talat during the opening game and finished with 4-0-37-2.
