Two Russian tourists and a famous Russian biathlete Igor Malinovsky were killed in a helicopter crash, dragged away and gnawed by brown bears.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, 16th July 2022. Malinovsky was apparently flying two people on a private tour in a Robinson helicopter. The helicopter caught fire in the crash and all three people died in the collision.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the remains of the victims were discovered three hours later close to the Semyachkov Pass, just 13 kilometres from the Uzon volcano. The bodies reportedly were mutilated and eaten by the area’s wild bears.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations released the statement saying, “The missing aircraft was found by a passing helicopter on the afternoon of July 17 near the Semyachik pass, 13 kilometres from the Uzon volcano. Unfortunately, no one survived the crash.”
Who was Igor Malinovsky?
Born in the spring, March 18, 1997, Igor Malinovsky is a Russian biathlete who has competed in the Olympics and World Championships. He was a Master of Sports of the Russian Federation.
Vladimir, Igor’s father is also a helicopter pilot . He owned the helicopter in which Igor died. The boy has been travelling with his father since he was young.
Reaction To Igor’s Death
The sports world is saddened by the loss of sports star, Igor Malinovsky.
Russian biathlon officials paid tribute to the athlete on their official website. it read, “The whole biathlon family mourns. The Russian Biathlon Union expresses its deepest condolences to Igor’s family and friends.”
Russian men’s national biathlon team, the head coach said, “We are all very sorry. He was still a part of our men’s team for quite a long time, showing great promise. It is a pity first of all for a person, and secondly for an athlete. As far as I know, he hesitated whether to leave biathlon or not, to concentrate only on flying or not. The guy was still young.”
