Who Is Sanjeev Khirwar?

Sanjeev Khirwar is an AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre Indian Administrative Officer from the 1994 batch. He has served in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in addition to Delhi and Chandigarh.

He was born in the city of Delhi. Presently, he is 50 years old. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in economics.

Rinku Dhugga, an AGMUT cadre IAS officer from the 1994 batch, is his wife. The publication also noticed Dhugga, who is from Haryana, wandering around the stadium with her husband. She has served in a variety of states, including Delhi, Goa, Chandigarh, and Arunachal Pradesh.

His Career

He has held prominent roles such as Goa excise and finance commissioner and deputy commissioner of West Delhi during his 28-year career. After graduating as an IAS officer in 1994, Khirwar’s first appointment was as an SDM (junior scale) in Chandigarh.

He has also served as secretary in the governments of Arunachal Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar. Between October 2009 to August 2014, Khirwar served as the Union woman and child development minister’s private secretary as part of his central delegation.

He has held various roles in Delhi, including Secretary of State for Health and Family Welfare, Revenue, Finance, and General Administration. In 2006-07, he worked as an additional secretary for the Agri Marketing Board and as the Commissioner of Excise and Taxation for the Delhi Government.

He is now working with the Delhi government as a divisional commissioner and principal secretary (revenue). In the Delhi administration, he is one of the most senior officials. As divisional commissioner, he is responsible for all district magistrates (11) and sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) in Delhi.

During the pandemic, Khirwar was assigned to the role of the divisional commissioner in Delhi, the third-highest position in the capital’s administration after the chief secretary and additional chief secretary.
