Citron co-founded Discord in 2012 and has led the company for over 13 years. While he steps down from his executive role, he will continue to serve as a board member and advisor.

Following the announcement, Humam will start his new role later this month, on April 28, 2025. While speaking about his new role, Sakhnini expressed his intent to work closely with co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy. He also expressed his desire to strike a balance between expanding monetization strategies while maintaining user trust. He is seemingly expected to guide Discord through various growth discussions, including premium features, moderation tools, partnerships, and potential public market readiness.

Later in 2012, he joined Activision Blizzard, where he climbed up the ranks and became Vice Chairman and Chief Strategy besides also serving as the Talent Officer. During his time there, he played a major role in the success of blockbuster franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.

Following his success at Activision Blizzard, Sakhnini then joined King Digital Entertainment, where he served as its President from 2019 to 2022. At King, Sakhnini oversaw mobile game operations, and under his leadership, the company grew their operating income from $600 million to $1.3 billion.

Humam Sakhnini served as President of King since January 2019, formerly serving as Chief Financial Officer/Chief Strategy Officer between 2016 and 2019 and as President, Humam lead the operational management of King and its iconic Candy Crush Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Bubblewitch Saga, and Pet Rescue Saga franchises.

Over a career of 10 years at Activision Blizzard, Humam played multiple C-level roles, including Chief Strategy and Talent Officer, overseeing Strategy, M&A and People Operations at Activision Blizzard. In 2016, he led the successful acquisition of King Digital for $5.9B.
