Not many people know that Wasim Akram had another marriage before marrying Shaniera Akram which was his first marriage and first wife’s name is Huma Mufti who is no more in this world but he has two sons from his first wife. Instead of living in Pakistan, both his sons live abroad for education.
Huma died aged 42 and was buried in Lahore in 2009.

Huma Akram Mufti, a hypnotherapist in Pakistan was admitted to a hospital after she got a heart attack while she was being flown to Singapore from her hometown Lahore in an air ambulance.
Huma was treated for a fever of unknown origin. She also suffered from multiple organ failure. Huma was on the ventilator and developed sepsis which is an inflammation of numerous tissues including blood. Sepsis led to kidney failure.
Huma was under dialysis and did not respond to the medication. Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman, who is a well-known consultant at Apollo Hospital, declared that she had passed away after having a “cardiac arrest and severe refractory shock.”
At 3.30 pm, her body was taken to another private hospital for embalming and she was scheduled to be flown to Delhi late in the evening. Wasim Akram, her husband, and other relatives who were with him, accompanied the body in another vehicle.
She had developed extensive fungal infection called mucormycosis that had blocked all her blood vessels and according to the report fungal infection was caused either by the scaling or due to the botox treatment, which caused widespread blood infection.
According to Huma’s physician at the National Defence Hospital in Lahore, she developed a throat infection and a dry cough.

Recently, former Pakistan cricket player Wasim Akram recalled his first wife’s tragic death in 2009.
Wasim’s wife got admitted to an Indian hospital despite the legendary Pakistan cricketer not having an Indian visa. “The people present at Chennai airport, security forces, and customs and immigration officials told me not to worry about the visa and I can take my wife to the hospital while they sort the visa out. It is something I will never forget, as a cricketer and as a human being,” Wasim said in an interview.

Wasim Akram was born on 3rd June 1966 and he is presently 56 years old as of 2023. Wasim is a well-known Pakistani cricket commentator, coach, and also former cricketer and the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. Akram is recognized as the greatest fast bowler in history, and numerous critics regard him as the greatest left-arm fast bowler in cricket history.
In early 2013, Akram was the only Pakistani cricketer, who got named in the all-time Test World XI to mark the 150th anniversary of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
