The dispute began when Pawan Khera, the All India Congress Committee’s Chairman of the Media & Publicity Department, said that Joshi was manipulating media narratives to promote the government. Khera made these claims at a news conference on the alleged wrongdoings of the government in relation to the current protest by farmers.

Who is Hiren Joshi?
Hiren Joshi is a senior official at the prime minister’s office in India. He has been in the news because Congress leader Pawan Khera indirectly accused him of manipulating the media to favor the government.
He is a native of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, and is currently 52 years old. He holds an engineering degree in electronics from Pune and completed his PhD at the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IITM), Gwalior.
Hiren Joshi has 13 years of teaching experience, having worked as an assistant professor of electronics and communication engineering at Manikya Lal Verma Textile and Engineering College in Bhilwara before joining Modi’s staff.
Though he holds the formal title of OSD of Communications and IT and operates at the Joint Secretary level, many consider him to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s eyes and ears behind closed doors. Joshi is notably in charge of the Prime Minister’s social media account.
Notably, Hiren Joshi’s duties go beyond managing social media; he is crucial to the dissemination of information on a variety of websites, blogs, and social media accounts (such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). In addition, he is in charge of translating the narendramodi.in website into Sanskrit and Hindi.
Joshi also keeps an eye on ministers’ social media presence and often sends ministries performance reports based on their online activity.
