Herschel Walker is a well-known American politician and former football running back. He has been in the news because of his contentious remarks about abortions which he made during the Georgia Senate race debate. In Georgia’s 2022 Senate race, he is the Republican candidate.
He was born on March 3, 1962, in Augusta, Georgia, U.S. His father’s name is Willis Walker and his mother’s name is Christine Walker. He was brought up in Wrightsville, Georgia. He has 6 siblings.
He did his schooling at Johnson County High School in Wrightsville. Later, he attended the University of Georgia for graduation. However, he dropped out of college in order to join NFL.
In 1983, he married Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, his college love. Together, they have one son whose name is Christian. However, they got separated in 2002 after 19 years of marriage. Later, in 2021, Walker married Julie Blanchard. He also has two more sons and a daughter which kept secret for a long time.

Herschel Walker participated in sports including football, basketball, and track & field while in high school and college. In 1982, during his first year in college at the University of Georgia, he went on to win the Heisman Trophy.
He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Draft in 1986, and from 1987 to 1988, he won consecutive Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro accolades. He was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, and he later played for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.
Later in his career, he returned to the Dallas Cowboys before declaring his retirement. In 1999, he was admitted to the College Football Hall of Fame.
After leaving the NFL, Herschel Walker entered politics. During Donald Trump’s presidential tenure, he served as co-chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. He received the Republican Party’s nomination to run for the Senate from Georgia in the 2022 election, where he will face Democratic Party, Senator Raphael Warnock.
