In 2011, at the Military World Games which were held in Rio de Janeiro, Hellen Obiri finished for the first time on a global stage. Obiri clinched a bronze medal in the 800 meters race by finishing fourth in the 1500 meters.
In 2012, Hellen Obiri won the first international championship at the World Indoor Championships which took place in Istanbul with an amazing time record of 8:37.16 over 3000 meters. Hellen won a silver medal in the 5000 meters for 2 times at the Olympics, which were held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and again in Tokyo in 2020.
