Gursimran Kaur is the 19-year-old Indian girl who was discovered dead after being roasted in the oven of the Walmart Bakery in Halifax, Canada with her official cause of death still not known

While the store was still open, the mother of Gursimran Kaur discovered her within the bread section. Kaur and her mother had migrated to Canada from the UK three years prior. According to Halifax regional police, the victim’s body was found inside a walk-in oven.

As the story garners national and international interest, police have warned the public not to propagate rumours, particularly on social media, as they continue to investigate the cause and manner of the young woman’s death.

A stop-work order for the bakery and “one piece of equipment” at the Walmart store has been issued by the province’s labour department. Large-volume bakeries, like those in supermarkets and big-box stores, frequently use walk-in ovens that enable batch baking, drying, or curing utilizing wheeled racks or carts.

Gursimran Kaur GoFundMe

A GoFundMe claims that Gursimran Kaur, who arrived in Canada with big goals, spent the previous two years working at Walmart alongside her mother.

Like any vigilant mother, she searched for her daughter after an hour of not seeing her in the evening of the incident. She continued to ask people where her daughter was, but they all dismissed her, assuming that since Walmart is a superstore, she might be assisting a customer. She couldn’t be reached on her phone.

The webpage states that Gursimran’s brother and father are in India and that local groups are working to bring them here as quickly as possible. “The pain endured by this family is unspeakable and unthinkable. To get through this terrible moment, they need your help,” the website states.

In order to generate funds for funeral costs and to transport family members from India for the final rituals, the Maritime Sikh Society has organized psychological counselling for those impacted and launched a GoFundMe campaign. In barely ten hours, the campaign exceeded its $50,000 target, and as of Friday, it had raised around $188,975.
