The senior superintendent of Bhatinda police, Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana identified arrested soldier Desai Mohan, and he further said, “The motive behind his arrest was personal. He had an enmity with them.”

Who is Desai Mohan?
Desai Mohan has claimed that he killed four colleagues to fight his personal s*xual harassment. The SSP spoke about the nature of harassment which Mohan Desai was facing. Some reports claimed that Mohan Desai was subjected to sodomy.
Desai Mohan will be taken to Bathinda court for police remand and will be further questioned for the crime that he has committed. A total of 4 soldiers were killed in their sleep and the firing inside the military station in Bathinda was held on 12 April.
The officer said, “The jawans slept nearly at 2 am. He kept a check on them at 3 am and then again at 4 am before committing a crime. He did firing from the rifle which he stole a few days back from a nearby sentry post,” as per reports.
After the discovery of four killings on 12th April 2023, Indian Army initiated an extensive search at the Bathinda Military Station. On the same day, one more body of a jawan was found dead due to apparent suicide, but no suspicion of foul play has been reported in this incident.
An FIR has been lodged at Bathinda Cantonment police station under section 302, of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act which are put against two unidentified persons.
As per FIR, Desai was the only eyewitness but he had turned accused in the murder of the four Jawan soldiers. Mohan was among four jawans summoned for questioning by the Bathinda Police on Sunday, 16.4.23.
Mohan Desai had earlier claimed that two men were seen near the crime scene in kurta pyjamas and their faces were covered.
After the killing of the four men from an artillery regiment named Sagar Banne, Kamalesh R, Yogesh Kumar J, and Santosh M Nagral in their rooms in a barrack behind the officers’ mess, the Army had said a search team has located the INSAS rifle along with the magazine involved in the killing.
Earlier, police said two unidentified persons in civil dress opened fire at Army personnel sleeping in barracks, killing four men and nineteen empty shells of an INSAS rifle were recovered from the crime scene. Mohan is said to have carried out the crime between 3-4am after the soldiers went off to sleep at 2:00am. Nothing else is known about Desai at the moment apart from the fact that he was a gunner.
