Officials claimed on Tuesday that a 20-year-old man from Noida had been arrested for allegedly threatening Salman Khan, an actor, and Zeeshan Siddiqui, the son of deceased lawmaker Baba Siddiqui.

The Mumbai Police said that the call, which was received at the Bandra East public relations office of Zeeshan Siddiqui, included requests for money and threats against both Siddiqui.

“The threatening call came on Friday evening. The person on the phone had threatened to kill Zeeshan Siddiqui and actor Salman Khan and has demanded money,” police said.

Based on the accusation made by the employee of the workplace of Zeeshan Siddiqui, the Mumbai Police filed a report against the individuals at the Nirmalnagar Police Station.

The defendant, identified as age 20 Gurfan Khan, also known as Mohammad Tayyab, was captured on Tuesday in Sector 39 in Noida.

Gufran Khan alias Mohammad Tayyab is a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and officials said that the suspect had issued threats through WhatsApp calls after he was arrested by the Mumbai Police.


Zeeshan, who defeated Vishwanath Mahadeshwar of the Shiv Sena in the 2019 elections, has been named the NCP’s candidate for the Bandra East seat. He is running against Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Varun Sardesai.

On October 12, three attackers shot and killed Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, next to his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar neighbourhood.

The murder has been attributed to the gang run by imprisoned mobster Lawrence Bishnoi. In relation to the case, 15 people have been arrested by Mumbai Police thus far. Nine suspects in the murder of Baba Siddique were brought before Mumbai’s Esplanade Court on October 26 following the conclusion of their police detention.

Five defendants were placed under detention until November 4 by the court, Nitin Sapre, Ram Kanojiya, Sambhaji Pardhi, Chetan Pardhi, and Pradeep Thombre. Gurmail Singh, Dharmaraj Kashyap, and Pravin Lonkar, the alleged shooters, were placed in judicial custody, while Harish Nishad, another accused, was remanded to the Mumbai Crime Branch’s custody till October 28.

The court also ordered the Mumbai Crime Branch to hold Sujit Singh, who was taken into prison on Friday. On the basis of confidential information, Mumbai Police detained Singh from Ludhiana in Punjab. Before being transported to Mumbai, he was first taken to the Jamalpur police station. Sujit, who lives in Mumbai, had gone to see his in-laws in Ludhiana.
