The news of the missing student was brought to public attention by Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a leader of the BJP, who shared the information on his social media platform.
According to Sirsa, GS Bhatia was last seen in Canary Wharf, East London, on December 15, 2023. Sirsa has appealed to the Indian High Commission and Loughborough University to collaborate in locating the missing student.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Manjinder Singh Sirsa conveyed that GS Bhatia, a Loughborough University student, has been missing since December 15, last seen in Canary Wharf, East London.
He has urged the External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, Loughborough University, and HCI London to join forces in the search for him.
Sirsa emphasized the importance of collective efforts and requested people to share and spread the word. Additionally, he shared two contact numbers for any information and provided a student ID card and photograph for identification purposes.
Richard Taylor, the Chief Operating Officer of Loughborough University, responded to Sirsa’s tweet, expressing gratitude and confirming ongoing communication with Gurashman’s family and friends.
They have also contacted London’s Metropolitan Police Service to underscore the urgency of the situation.
Who is GS Bhatia?
For those unversed, GS Bhatia whose full name is Gurashman Singh Bhatia, is an Indian residing in London, is pursuing postgraduate studies at Loughborough University. He holds a two-year UK residence permit until June 2, 2024, as indicated by his University Identity card.
According to various reports, 23 year old Gurashman went missing on his 23rd birthday on December 15. Hailing from Jalandhar, Punjab, he comes from an affluent family, completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, and is recognized as a bright and intelligent student.
The investigation of GS Bhatia’s missing is still ongoing and further details are awaited.
