According to him, the estimated journey time was 1.5 hours, during which the driver continuously used a loudspeaker to talk on the phone for the first 30 minutes.

Raj Vikradamitya is a Software Engineer at Google Warsaw who has worked with renown companies like Amazon and Media-.net and a former competitive programmer, Raj is known in the coding community as Striver.

He is the Founder of TakeUForward a YouTube channel and an educational initiative to provide outstanding free programming content for students to learn coding and crack programming interviews at companies.

He taught coding to his juniors while he was studying at the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College in West Bengal.

Identified as Raj Vikramaditya, known as ‘Striver’ on Twitter, he previously disclosed to Moneycontrol his employment with Google in Poland. On Saturday, he scheduled a 1.5-hour ride which abruptly terminated when he requested the Uber driver to refrain from using the phone while driving or to use earphones.

Why Vikramaditya escalated against the Uber driver?

Vikramaditya politely asked the driver to either use headphones or postpone the call. Instead of complying, the driver insisted that Vikramaditya and his friend leave the cab. Reflecting on the encounter, Vikramaditya described how they were subjected to verbal abuse and instructed to vacate the vehicle, as the driver expressed discomfort in continuing the ride with them.

Vikramaditya shared a photo of the cab, displaying its number plate. This post garnered over 400,000 views and sparked numerous comments. Many individuals shared similar experiences with Uber as a result of this viral post. Uber India responded to Vikramaditya’s viral post by asking for the trip’s date, time, and registered contact details. The following day, Vikramaditya reported in a separate post that Uber had contacted him and promised to take necessary action.

How netizens reacted to Vikramaditya’s viral post?

One user mentioned that they had experienced a situation where the Uber driver remained on a call continuously, causing discomfort to them and their friend. They opted to contact another friend, and they began conversing and laughing loudly, leading to the caller on the driver’s phone disconnecting.

Another person recalled a trip they had taken from Bangalore to Chennai in 2022. Throughout the journey, despite their requests, the driver persisted in conversing. Frustrated by the driver’s indifference, the passenger eventually gave up after two hours.
