Who is Blades Brown?
Blades Brown is an amateur golf player who is a native of Tennessean. The 16-year-old was exposed to sports because of his family’s sporting background and maybe this is why the youngster is growing fast.
A look at Blades Brown’s rising career
In a home full of role models, Brown’s genuine passion for golf serves as his source of motivation for achievement. Growing up, he participated in the Tennessee Golf Foundation Junior Golf Tour, sponsored by Brandt Snedeker and the Snedeker Family Foundation.
In the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Classic on Thursday, the 16-year-old, who is ranked first in the Class of 2026, shot 1-over 72, making five birdies but also six bogeys.
Brown, who has a sponsor exemption, is tied for 89th place at the beginning of the second round. He recorded two bogeys in his final round and was 1 under after two holes.
In 2023, Bobby Jones’ record of 103 years was broken by Brown, who became the youngest stroke play co-medalist in U.S. Amateur history. At the 2023 Tennessee Junior Amateur Championship, he led the field by 12 strokes and finished with the lowest score in the event’s history—22 under par over 54 holes.
Blades Brown’s family
Blades Brown belongs to a family of sporting athletes. His mother Rhonda Blades Brown is a former WNBA player for Vanderbilt. She played there as a point guard. Despite his father Parke Brown’s preference for his son to play golf, Brown grew up playing basketball and began his high school career as a point guard.
However, he is finally making names in the golf world. Unfortunately, in 2022, his father was diagnosed with hairy cell leukaemia.
Brown is ranked No. 4 in the AJGA rankings and No. 176 in World Amateur Golf. Transcend Capital Advisors signed a multi-year Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) partnership with the 16-year-old amateur golfer Blades Brown back in March 2024.
