Notably, Talley is unlike any ordinary amateur, as she is still in early high school.

Asterisk Talley bio and age

Asterisk Talley is an upcoming LPGA golfer who hails from Chowchilla, California. She is just 15 years old and she has been playing golf since childhood. Asterisk Talley is unsurprisingly the youngest player in the field and is currently competing in the 2024 Women’s U.S. Open.

Talley was born in February 2009 and lives in Chowchilla, California.

Asterisk Talley is currently a freshman at the Chowchilla High School, California.

Career

Asterisk Talley started out playing golf at a very young age and has been a finalist at Drive, Chip and Putt National twice. According to Talley’s dad, his daughter starting playing well as early as 3 years old and soon joined up with coach Mike Schy five years later. Schy once shared about his daughter, saying:

When she was eight and a half, she had this one tooth that stuck out funny in the front, and yet when she started hitting balls, I literally thought I was talking to a 20-year-old.”

When Talley was just 13 years old, she reached the Round of 16 at the U.S. Girls’ Junior. Notably, she won the Rolex Girls Junior Championship in 2023 and also competed in the 2023 Junior Solheim Cup. Earlier this year, Talley claimed a win in the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and ranked eighth in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She also won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball title with Sarah Lim.

Talley is currently competing in the 2024 U.S. Open and qualified for the competition after going 5 under at the San Joaquin Country Club back in Fresno, California, on May 6, 2024.

Asterisk Talley name origins

Asterisk has a very interesting name that has piqued the interest of fans in the past. Notably, her mother, Brandii Talley, is Greek, and Asterisk’s name means, “little star,” in Greek. According to her mother Brandii Talley, she stated that the name is fitting because “we feel like she is” a little star. She further added:

“She seems pretty confident, she’s always kind of level headed and calm and we’re just super proud that she’s here and it’s very exciting.”

Speaking about her dad’s influence on her game, Talley said, “A lot of people think it’s like tough, because, you know, golf dad” and the teenager revealed she prefers to travel with her dad to the course as her dad knows her game better than anybody,

She is ranked 87th in the amateur golf world rankings.
