About Glenn Nyberg

For the curious, Glenn Nyberg, is a Swedish football referee who became a professional referee in 2008. Born on October 12, 1988 in Sรคter, Sweden, he has been officiating in Allsvenskan since 2013.

Nyberg worked various jobs before becoming a referee such as a warehouse worker or a supply teacher and during his time as a teacher he decided to become a elite referee.

His father was also an assistant referee in the Swedish league and a FIFA referee. His brother and two half-sisters are also referees as well. Glenn is married and has children but the names of his family members aren’t known. His career stats can be found here.

Reports indicates that since 2016, he has been a full international referee. Glenn has officiated international football matches, and even selected in 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup final.

He was referee in the UEFA Champions League 2024 and was seen as a referee in the first leg of the quarter-finals tie between Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Following this match, Nyberg, faced a criticism from Munichโ€™s coach Thomas Tuchel for not awarding a penalty. Later, he was officiated at the Menโ€™s Olympic games football tournament in Paris. He was also a referee in Euro 2024.
