Maxwell was kept in an all-female, low security prison, FCI Tallahassee after she was found guilty of 5 charges on December 29, 2021. She was sentenced to 20 years in jail on June 28, 2022.
The charges under which she is serving the prison includes sex trafficking of minor, conspiracy to transport minors for illegal sex acts, sex trafficking, transporting a minor for illegal sex acts, and conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage for illegal sex acts.
According to the statement given by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, during her trials, she was first put at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in NYC.
Later, after she was sentenced, was moved to FCI in July, this year. Maxwell’s attorney had requested to shift her to the Danbury Federal Correctional Institute. However, Judges denied the plea for transfer.
As per the official documents, the socialite would not be eligible for parole until July, 2037. So she has to stay behind bars until she reaches the age of 78.
A Judge, Alison J Nathan, termed her behavior as “heinous and predatory,” before adding that “she worked with Epstein to select young victims who were vulnerable.”
Let us remind you, in an earlier interview, the attorney for the socialite had earlier claimed that Maxwell was treated badly in Brooklyn prison.
Her lawyer stated that, “She has been subject to physical and emotional abuse by the correction officers, poor and unsanitary living conditions, insufficient nutrition, difficulties reviewing the millions of legal discovery documents in the case against her, and sleep deprivation.”
However, the official US Bureau of Prisons refused to talk about the conditions of the inmates. However they did say that they were “committed to ensuring the safety and security of inmates and take allegations of staff misconduct seriously.”
