The coach of the Mexican team earlier stated to Fix Soccer that his contract was terminated by Mexico after the match against Saudi Arabia.

It was the first time that Mexico had been eliminated from the World Cup group stage since 1978 despite winning.
Who’s Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino?
For those who are unfamiliar with Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, let us tell you, Gerardo Martino whose full name is Gerardo Daniel “Tata” Martino, was born in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina on November 20, 1962.
Martino is of Italian descent as his grandparents hail from Ripacandida, Basilicata.
Gerardo is the coach of the Argentine football team. In his career, he played for several teams including Tenerife, Lanus, Newell’s Old Boys, Barcelona and O’Higgins.
During his career as a professional player, he made one appearance for the Argentine national team.
The 60-year-old former player signed a contract with Mexico for 4 years under the contracted salary of $8.8 million. He joined the team as the Head coach on January 7, 2019.
Apart from the Mexican national team, during his career as a coach, he also managed a number of teams for which he was seen playing including Newell’s Old Boys, Barcelona, and Argentina national team.
At the time, when Gerardo was managing Barcelona, the team ended up winning the 2013-14 season as La Liga along with being the runners-up in Copa Del Rey.
During his time as Argentina coach, he led the national team to 2 consecutive Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016.
However, the team ended up losing both times against Chile because of penalties. Under Martino’s management, these are among the 3 losses in 29 games for La Albiceleste.
The now former coach of Mexico married Maria Alejandra and the duo shared 3 children together.
As per reports, the coach of the national team had bid his final goodbyes to the several staff members of Mexico.
