In Casey’s trial, a figure who became the centre of headlines was Casey’s father George Anthony.
For those who are unfamiliar, let us tell you, George was the grandfather of Caylee Marie Anthony, a toddler who went missing and was found dead in 2008.

During the infamous trial of 2011 following the death of Florida’s toddler, Casey’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony became the centre of headlines.
During one of the trials, at one point, the defense attorney of Casey, Jose Baez, even went on to ask Casey’s father to submit a DNA test to prove that he isn’t the biological father of Caylee.
George, who became the subject of multiple allegations of sexual assault to his daughter denied all the allegations, however, the Jose strongly claimed that George has sexually abused her daughter till she was 12.
Although the paternity test had confirmed that George didn’t father Caylee, however, to the date, it’s still unknown who is the father of the late daughter.
Let us remind you, Caylee was last seen alive on June 16, 2008, at her grandparents house in Orlando, Florida.
Later, on July 15, 2008, Cindy, the grandmother of the toddler reported her missing after Casey told her parents that she hasn’t seen her daughter for a month.
On December 19, 2008, authorities discovered a bag of skeletal remains which appeared to belong to a toddler near the Anthony’s home, later the DNA testing confirmed the remains belonged to Caylee.
After a long trial, Casey who was charged with first-degree murder of her own daughter was acquitted. Though she was found guilty of 4 counts of providing false information to officials.
Casey was sentenced to 4 years in prison by Judge Belvin Perry. At the time of her sentencing, she had already spent 3 years in jail, so she only had to spend one more year behind bars.
Coming back to George, he was involved in several theories about the disappearance of his granddaughter. However, he refuted everything.
For instance, he was even claimed to be involved in the drowning of the Caylee in their family swimming pool which was alleged to have happened on July 16, 2008, hinting that the girl never went missing.
In the finale of the 2017’s Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery, George revealed that, “I don’t believe (the drowning). That’s a bunch of bull to me.”
He further added, “That’s too easy of a story to bring up ‘cause if that would’ve happened, I think my daughter would’ve at least had the common decency or common sense inside to call 911 and say something.”
Even during the filming of the documentary, George emphasized that, “Casey gave Caylee something” after he claimed that there were times when his granddaughter would just sleep for long lengths of time, sometimes even up to 13 hours.
After the trial of Casey was over, George and Cindy both remained to live in their Florida home.
However, earlier, in November 2018, George was in a near-fatal car accident when he flipped his vehicle near Daytona Beach. At the time, he was reportedly alone in the vehicle and had suffered injuries.
However, he has recovered from his injuries. Following his car accident, George explained that Casey had reached out to him and his attitude towards her has also changed.
