Samantha Suarez, who was a makeup artist on the ‘Below Deck’ show and her then boyfriend, camera operator Grey Duddleston, have filed a lawsuit against Gary King, Bravo, and NBCUniversal in Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to the suit, Gary King, while intoxicated, invited Suarez into his hotel room and attempted to prevent her from leaving on July 3, 2022. While trying to flee the room, he allegedly grabbed her arms and blocked the door, stopping her from leaving. King reportedly released her only after another crew member called out for her. Suarez went out to report the incident immediately, which triggered an internal investigation. Showrunner Courtland Cox informed Suarez that King was sorry for his actions and assured to fire him if he repeated them.

Just two weeks later, after the incident, Duddleston reportedly witnessed King engaging in further inappropriate behavior. He reportedly saw him groping female crew members and attempting to remove a cast member’s swimsuit top, besides making lewd remarks toward an audio technician. When Duddleston reported all of these incidents, he was simply accused of misusing the walkie-talkie system.
Once the filming for season 4 wrapped up, both Suarez and Duddleston were immediately fired and placed on a “do not hire” list. Following the incidents, Suarez and Duddleston are now seeking monetary damages, civil penalties, punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, and other restitution.
