To cap off the first weekend of the 2024 MLS season, Inter Miami and the Galaxy drew 1-1 on Sunday night thanks to a sliding kick by Messi in the 92nd minute of play.

In the 88th minute, Mark Delgado of Galaxy was given his second yellow card, which led to a red card and ejection and the team was left with 10 players. However, Messi’s late winner saved the night for his side.
It happened five minutes after Galaxy player Delgado received a second yellow card and was sent off by referee Gabriele Ciampi; a stand-in for the regular MLS referees.
