Although it is unlikely to cause significant disruption in politics, Macron’s move demonstrates his desire to move past the negative effects of his earlier, unpopular policies, particularly those pertaining to immigration and pensions.
Macron’s goal is apparent: he wants to boost his party’s chances of winning the June EU elections, where polls show that his party is now eight to ten percentage points behind Marine Le Pen’s far-right party.
Macron’s close friend and confidant, Gabriel Attal, became well-known when he served as the government’s spokesperson during the turbulent COVID-19 outbreak. His appointment as prime minister comes as a replacement for Elisabeth Borne.
According to recent studies, Attal is one of the most liked politicians. He has received praise for his skill as a minister, soaring through legislative discussions and radio broadcasts.
As the youngest prime minister of France, Attal will take office amid a momentous historical event. In addition, his nomination is significant since he publicly identifies as gay, which is a first for the political landscape of the nation.
