After Gabby went missing, her fiancé drove back the van from Wyoming to his parents’ house in North Port, Florida.
He refused to talk about her and didn’t even tell anyone about Petito’s whereabouts. However, as he was the main person of interest in the case, a warrant against him was issued.
The warrant was issued under the charges of making withdrawals from Petito’s debit card.
Following the incident, on September 13, Brian left his parents house in Florida and was reported missing on Sept 17.
Two days later, Gabby’s remains were found at Bridger–Teton National Forest in Wyoming. An autopsy report revealed that she was killed due to manual strangulation.

On October 20, his skeletal remains were found near his Florida home in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
Later, on November 23, the authorities announced that Brian died because of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
The FBI in a statement also announced that Laundrie accepted killing Petito in his notebook, which was found near his remains.
Gabby, who grew up in Long Island’s Southern half of New York, had graduated in 2017 from high school. She was a traveler, and used to travel around when she was in high school.
