For the unversed, Sébastien Farcis, a veteran French journalist, recently revealed that he had to leave India after the Ministry of Home Affairs denied the renewal of his journalist visa.
Farcis, who reported for Radio France Internationale and Libération as their India correspondent, expressed his frustration over the unexplained work ban.

Taking the matter to X/Twitter, Sébastien Farcis revealed in a tweet that, “After 13 years working as a correspondent in India, the authorities have denied me a permit to work as a journalist.”
He further added, “I have thus been forced to leave the country. Here is my statement,” along with a long-page statement emphasizing that he has been working in the country as a South Asia correspondent for various international media outlets.

Moreover, he also explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs have refused to “renew” his journalist visa.
He also revealed that, though he tried to “seek clarification and appeal the decision,” however, Farcis, received “no explanation for the ban,” resulting he had to leave the country.

As per his official LinkedIn profile, Sébastien Farcis, is a correspondent at RFI Radio France Internationale.
He has been working with the media outlet for more than 17 years. He completed his degree in journalism in 2005 and started working as a correspondent in 2006 for Philippines.
Farcis, who began reporting from India in 2011, emphasized in his now-viral tweet that he always adhered to Indian regulations for foreign journalists, securing the necessary visas and accreditations.
He expressed shock at the timing of the ban, which coincided with the Indian general elections.
