Renowned French dancer and performer Arthur Cadre, on August 11, embodied โ€˜The Golden Voyagerโ€™ during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The performance, which was crafted by artistic director Thomas Jolly, was a tribute to Franceโ€™s historical heritage and depicted a time without the Olympics. Cadre left the viewers stunned, as he wore an intricate gold costume with spikes created by Kevin Germanier.

According to reports, Thomas Jolly wished to represent The Voyager Golden Record, through Cadreโ€™s performance. The Voyager Golden Record, is a record of humanity sent to space by France in 1977, and it was also the main inspiration behind the title of the show, โ€˜Records.โ€™ The closing ceremony, portrayed Arthur excavating the Olympic rings while a cast of dancers took the stage.

Viewers got to see fireworks across the Stade de France roof in the background. Aside from its representation of โ€œThe Voyager Golden Recordโ€, Cadreโ€™s character at the Paris Olympics also paid tribute to Franceโ€™s Spirit of the Bastille. The performance also showed his character encountering Nike, the goddess of victory symbolized by the statue of the Victory of Samothrace.

Arthur Cadre bio

Arthur Cadre aka Lil Crabe, is a French dancer, contortionist, choreographer, model, and former architect who was born in 1991, in Perros-Guirec, France. He is a renowned performer and featured in the Forbesโ€™ 30 Under 30 list for his contributions to the Art & Culture field in 2022. Notably, Arthur was born into a family of athletes as his mother was a part of the French volleyball team, while his father was a surfer who competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Education

Cadre obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Science from the Brittany National College of Architecture. He then obtained a masterโ€™s degree in architecture from the University of Montreal in 2014.

Arthur Cadre started taking an interest in breakdancing at the young age of nine and eventually started doing contortion and acrobats later. He made his first television appearance on Franceโ€™s Got Talent at the young age of 14, where he performed a unique dance style which later got named as Yoga Breakdance in 2011. Cadre soon started participating across various international breakdancing competitions.

Over the years, he has Cadre has performed on different stages, and collaborated with various artists and organizations worldwide. He notably worked as a lead performer in shows with Cirque du Soleil, a renowned entertainment company.
