The Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich were among the major teams that showed interest in the defender. The player had already negotiated terms with the Lilywhites, thus the German football powers’ last-minute attempt to hijack the Tottenham-Dragusin agreement was unsuccessful.
Who is Radu Dragusin?
Romanian football player Radu Matei Drăgușin was born on February 3, 2002, in Bucharest, Romania, and now plays for both the Romania national team and Serie A club Genoa. He is primarily a centre-back, but he can also play right back. The 21-year-old stands 1.91 m (6 ft 3 in) tall.
A look at Radu Dragusin’s career so far
At the age of seven, Drăguşin joined the Sportul Studențesc youth teams after being convinced to take up football by his cousin. Before the club’s dissolution, he played for four years there. After that, he transferred to Regal Sport București, where he shared a team with players like Luca Florică and Octavian Popescu.
In 2020, at the age of 18, Drăgușin made his first appearance for the first team after beginning his senior career with the Italian club Juventus’ reserves. He signed a long-term deal with Genoa in 2023 after loaning to Sampdoria, Salernitana, and Genoa, respectively.
At the 2021 UEFA European Championship, Drăgușin made one appearance for Romania’s under-21 team abroad. He made his full debut the following year in a 0-1 friendly loss to Greece.
