On January 4, 1992, Quincy Promes was born in Amsterdam to Afro-Surinamese parents. He is 5ft 9in tall. His father played professional football in Suriname, but he switched to amateur football after relocating to the Netherlands.

The Dutch prosecution office revealed on May 30, 2023, that they had chosen to charge Promes following the completion of the drug trafficking investigation. They claimed that Promes had tried to import more than 1.3 metric tonnes of cocaine through the port of Antwerp in January 2020.
