Aston Villa file complaint to PGMOL against Thomas Bramall’s decision
Aston Villa have reportedly filed an official complaint to the PGMOL against referee Thomas Bramall’s decision during their tense match at Old Trafford. Villa had a lot riding on the last league game, needing just one point to qualify for Champions League football next season. Following a justified red card to goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, the team found themselves down to 10 men.
Shortly after the decision, Morgan Rogers seemingly appeared to put Villa ahead after poking the ball away from United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and scoring. However, Thomas Bramall blew for a foul, with the believe that Bayindir had full control over the ball. But upon a closer inspection, the television replays showed that Bayindir clearly did not have two hands on the ball. Sadly, VAR couldn’t intervene because Bramall had already stopped play before the goal.
Love that there is a referee called 'Thomas Bramall' who can't be involved with Sheffield United matches. (I realise it's not strictly due to his surname…) https://t.co/DbffL88Vpx

Just minutes later, United capitalized with a superb header from Amad Diallo followed by a late penalty from Christian Eriksen. Villa manager Unai Emery was visibly displeased with the decision, and Villa director of football operations, Damian Vidagany, also expressed his frustration post-match, stating:
We’re not just questioning the decision—we’re questioning why one of the Premier League’s least experienced referees was in charge of such a high-stakes game.”
