The couple initially started out as a joke when discussing about adopting a pet. However, when Folts shared Fishtopher’s adoption listing with her 24-year-old partner, he went and submitted an application, which the shelter ended up replying to.
Hundreds Of Inquiries
The adoption listing for the sad-eyed cat Fishtopher reportedly garnered over 168,000 likes and 21,000 retweets on Twitter. The shelter further revealed on its Facebook page that they received ‘hundreds of inquiries’ about Fishtopher.
They revealed that amongst all the inquiries, the Baltimore duo were the first to arrive at the shelter. Folt and Callahan together drove to Blackwood, New Jersey for two hours and eventually reached first to adopt the cat.
Folt shared how a lot of people came in wishing to see Fishtopher. She revealed how out of the first 10 people that came to visit the shelter roughly eight or nine of them were there to see Fishtopher. She shared:
“And so they all got to pet him. But we were the lucky ones to take him home.
Following the adoption, the happy couple revealed that fishtopher has gone on to create a few hideouts for himself at his new place but besides that the new cat is adjusting well to his new space.
Fishtopher’s New Social Media Accounts
Following the adoption Folts started documenting her new feline’s journey on her Instagram page. The new owner has even set up new Twitter and Instagram accounts on Fishtopher’s name. The new accounts have garnered massive popularity online, surprising Folts.
She shared how the whole experience has been very heartwarming and special to see how much happier her pet is. Folts and Callahan also went on to express their desire to raise awareness for other shelter animals.
Laura Folts is known for frequently retweeting photos and adoption listings of animal shelter on Twitter. She recently shared stating how she hoped that people keep the same energy for other cats and not just because Fishtopher has a very unique look.
Folts shared that there are so many other cats as unique and special as Fishtopher, in need of homes and money. She revealed how lots of people wanted to send money for food but she declined them. Instead, she requested them all to give it to other cats who currently do not have a home.
