DC plane crash

Samuel Lilley and his crew recently passed away alongside the 60 passengers on their plane following a tragic crash with a military Black Hawk helicopter. The fatal crash, which took place on Wednesday night, killed everyone on board both aircraft. Following the crash, the jet plane fell into the Potomac River with no survivors. The jet plane was an American Airlines plane and carried many notable sportspersons including famed ice-skating Yevgeniya Shishkova and Vadim Naumov who were former champions and serving as coaches.

Samuel Lilley bio

Georgia native Samuel aka Sam Lilley was an American commercial pilot who recently passed away following a tragic crash that killed 67 people. Lilley was just 28 years old at the time of his death, and he was just months away from being promoted as a captain. Samuel was born to parents Timothy and his ex-wife Sheri and grew up in Savannah, Georgia. Back in 2018, he graduated with honors from the University of Georgia Southern.

Sam tried his hand at a marketing career at first but he quickly realized it wasn’t a good fit and, after discussing it with their dad, who was a pilot in the army decided to go to flight school and become a pilot.

His sister Tiffany Gibson was supposed to see her little brother Samuel Lilley soon and he had just visited her family in Goldsboro with his fiancee, but the siblings were already making plans for the next visit with him set to get married and also get a dog soon.

“He was a fun, adventurous son and brother,” Gibson said who is 13 years elder to her brother. “I have three kids that he was an uncle to. He was the ‘funcle’. They all loved and adored him. And he loved traveling and he loved flying.”

Sam’s father Timothy is also a pilot who flies private jets, and he was a former army warrant officer pilot. Timothy was at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey during the time of the crash and shared:

Samuel was in the prime of his life. He was engaged to a beautiful, wonderful girl and we were all excited about her joining the family. I saw the crash on the news. I didn’t think there was any way it was my son.”

He further added:

But then I watched long enough to figure out it was my son’s airline and then I kind of know his schedule.
