Anupam Mittal, the creator of Shaadi.com, has made headlines for eliminating Gaurav Taneja, also known as Flying Beast, another influencer-turned-entrepreneur. In a recent Shark Tank India season 4 episode, the creator of Shaadi.com took aim at business and financial influencer Vijay Nihalchandani.
In order to promote his company, Make My Payment, Vijay Nihalchandani attended the exhibition with his brother, wife, and business partner. Defaulting debtors can receive automated payment reminders through the Make My Payment app. In return for a 3% ownership in their business, the founders offered ₹30 lakh. ‘Sharks’ especially, Anupam Mittal was unimpressed when the influencer-turned-founder gave an overview of his company.

Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, appeared unimpressed by Vijay Nihalchandani. Thapar noted that anyone who missed payments would not be persuaded by an automated voicemail and could choose to ignore or block the number.
CMO for boAt Lifestyle Vijay was asked by Aman Gupta if he has any other side projects. In response, Nihalchandani stated that he has approximately one million Instagram followers and is a social media influencer. He added that he has a successful hotel reservations firm.
Vijay responded to Peyush Bansal of Lenskart’s Instagram question regarding his income by saying that he earns roughly ₹5 lakh a month. Peyush appeared impressed, but his companion sharks did not share his enthusiasm.
Known for his scathing critique, Anupam Mittal also didn’t hesitate to voice his doubts. He mockingly chuckled at the idea, suggesting that the company was neither important nor serious.
This is hardly a business, Anupam Mittal added, urging the influencer-turned-founder to take things seriously.
When asked how many customers they have on the platform, Vijay’s wife said that just 200 of the 3,500 people who joined up are paying subscribers. This supports his argument, according to Anupam, who added, “You’re earning ₹30,000 per month, isse acha thela laga lo.”

Vijay Nihalchandani who is also a finance influencer and the owner of Travinities India, a hotel revenue management company is the founder of Make My Payment. At Shark Tank India, he was seeking an offer of ₹30 Lakhs for 3% equity at the valuation of ₹ 10 Cr and came to the show along with his wife, his brother and his business partner to pitch his business Make My Payment which is an app that sends automated payment reminders to defaulting debtors.
Vijay went to the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication in Bhopal where he did his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He creates infotainment content on Instagram and apart from this, it has been 7 years of my startup which works in the hospitality sector managing 300+ hotels and 100+ Airbnbs.
Vijay who is from Ujjain and is based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is married to wife Pooja Nagdewani and while his DOB isn’t known, he is aged between 30-40 years.
The founders of Make My Payment were unable to receive any offers on the show because they were unable to respond to the “sharks'” basic inquiries. Nihalchandani is not the first influencer-founder to be subjected to Anupam Mittal’s fury on the show, though.
