While Haryana claims the farm protester’s condition is stable, Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma said this is to ensure farmer Pritpal aka Preetpal Singh receives the free treatment being offered in the state
Anurag Verma, the chief secretary for Punjab, wrote Sanjeev Kaushal, the chief secretary for Haryana, on Saturday to request the transfer of Pritpal Singh, a farmer who is enrolled at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak.

Additionally, Verma stated in the letter that Punjab should receive any additional farmers who are accepted in Haryana.
Preetpal Singh was protesting with other farmers when violence broke out at the Khanauri border last week and went missing but the Haryana Police later clarified that Preetpal was under treatment at PGI Rohtak.
A day after the Haryana Government referred injured farmer Preetpal Singh from PGI Rohtak to PGIMER Chandigarh after the intervention of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, ex-Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh strongly criticised the Haryana Police for their “barbaric act of violence” and urged Chief Minister M L Khattar to take action against the officers.

Preetpal’s brother Gurjeet Singh revealed that he had been admitted to PGI Chandigarh around 7pm on Saturday.
30-year-old Preetpal Singh was injured while he was distributing ‘langar’ (free food) aboard a tractor-trolley at the Khanauri Border.
Preetpal is from the village Nava Goyon( Sangrur) and has 2 acres of land. In his family he has Mother, father, two Sisters, wife and a minor daughter to feed and look after.
Earlier, Haryana police updated Pritpal’s condition on X
The Haryana Police clarified on X that the young person identified as Preet Singh of Nawangaon in the Sangrur district of Punjab was admitted to PGIMS, Rohtak, for treatment and was out of danger following rumours that he had been kidnapped at Khanauri on the Sangrur-Jind border on February 21.

The opposition parties in Punjab, the Congress, and the Shiromani Akali Dal had stated that the farmer had been taken hostage by the Haryana Police and mistreated cruelly, which made the Haryana Police respond with an explanation as a result.
Official statement from PGIMS
When contacted, PGIMS director Dr. SS Lohchab stated that Pritpal Singh, a native of Sangrur, was receiving care at the hospital’s trauma centre and that his injuries were not life-threatening. The physicians had his orders to provide him with the finest care and attention possible. Lohchab continued that he met Pritpal’s uncle and other family members and promised them all the assistance he could provide.
While agricultural unions are calling for the filing of a formal complaint against those accountable for the murder of 21-year-old Shubh Karan Singh, a farmer’s protester, the Punjab Police have stated that they are unable to comply because Singh was hurt within the jurisdiction of the Garhi police station in the Jind district of Haryana. The protester’s father and farm leaders have insisted that a murder case be filed against Haryana Police personnel; if not, they will not permit an autopsy or cremation.
